#95 The Prom Night Murders
Wednesday May 06, 2020
Wednesday May 06, 2020
Did an Indiana teenager murder four members of his family in an argument over prom?
"No one should have seen what we saw that morning." said Detective Mark Senter. What Senter saw in the home adjacent to the Olive Branch Church was gruesome: Reverend Robert Pelley, his wife Dawn, and Dawn's daughters Janel and Jolene were shot at close range with a shotgun. Parishioners discovered the four bodies when Bob Pelley and his family did not show up for services that morning. No signs of forced entry, no witnesses, and no murder weapon....

To add to my own comment, it's supposed to be beyond any reasonable doubt. And there absolutely is reasonable doubt here. And how do we know there wasn't a gun found at the scene that wasn't logged? US police is notoriously bad at taking care of evidence or prosecuting people. Just a few days ago it took massive media attention and celebrity outreach to make the police press changes on what was obviously murder, where the murderers had filmed the thing. Fucking disgusting.

Honestly, this doesn't seem like justice to me. I absolutely agree that all the signs point to him but you shouldn't be able to send people to jail based on them being angry, having an unusual reaction to being accused of murder and there being no better alternatives. This doesn't seem like any sort of prosecution that I could support. The US is wack.
