In 1988, Laurie Dann went on a rampage that ended with two dead, A little boy, Nicholas Corwin, eight years old, and herself by suicide. The rampage happened in Winnetka, an affluent suburb of Chicago, resulting in an uproar over gun control and higher security in schools. She was also a suspect in the Tylenol Murders, and tried unsuccessfully to poison multiple people, including children.
